1. How to use Play@TV with Wireless Network? |

To use Play@TV with Wireless Network, one or more Wi-Fi compatible Wireless LAN cards and an Access Point are required. The Wireless LAN card is the key component to create a Wireless Network between the PC and the set-top box. The Access Point is the device to connect Wired LAN to Wireless LAN, which is essential to use the Internet with the Wireless LAN. With Play@TV, one connection uses a Wired Network and the other uses a Wireless Network. If both connections use Wireless Network, the communication bandwidth is not enough to play high-quality video.

2. How far can my PC be from Play@TV? |

Play@TV can be connected wired or wirelessly to a LAN or PC, so this distance varies depending on the network settings and environment. With a wireless connection, the distance between the server PC and the set-top box does not affect the communication under normal home conditions (8~10 m). Special circumstances (such as reinforced concrete walls) will, however, hinder communication.

7. Can I use the Internet and Play@TV at the same time? |

If you only have one LAN card on your PC and Play@TV is directly connected to it, you can not use the Internet, even if you are not using Play@TV. This is because the LAN card is used only for Play@TV. You need two LAN cards in order to connect to an external network. Use one for Play@TV and one for the external network connection.

8. I'd like to use Play@TV NMP4000 using a wireless card. |

When you use Play@TV through a wireless network, you can view media data in your PC on TV without connecting the cables. In order to use it on a wireless network, connect your PC to Play@TV using an access point (wireless router) or purchase two wireless LAN cards to connect Play@TV to PC (peer to peer).
Connection using Access Point

Purchase an access point and a PCMCIA wireless LAN card (for laptop). Install the PCMCIA LAN card on Play@TV and connect the PC with Access Point with a LAN cable.
Connection using peer-to-peer

Get two wireless LAN cards and install one on Play@TV and the other on PC. The LAN card of Play@TV should be a PCMCIA wireless LAN card and the LAN card of the PC should be a USB wireless LAN card.
Installation of wireless LAN card may vary according to brand but it is not too difficult. Access Point may cost more but it is easier to install. Also, only few wireless LAN cards are compatible with Play@TV. Refer to the list of supported wireless LAN cards on this site.

9. What kind of wireless LAN card do I need to use Play@TV NMP4000 in wireless? |

Wireless LAN card for Play@TV
If your LAN card is 5V 802.11b. 16-bit PCMCIA (a.k.a. PC card type), it is compatible with Play@TV. However, if it does not have Wi-Fi authentication, there may be some problems in using some functions. Also, LinkSys WPC 11 ver.3 was reported to have problems with Play@TV so you should avoid using it.
32-bit cards, 802.11b/g 802.11b/a cards or 3.3V cards do not fit in the slot of Play@TV. Attempting to insert it may damage the product.
Refer to the list of supported wireless LAN cards for Play@TV on our site.
Wireless LAN card for PC
To use Play@TV in wireless, you need to install two different wireless LAN cards on Play@TV and PC for peer-to-peer mode or use Access Point.
It is recommended to use a USB LAN card for PC. When using PCMCIA, 32-bit BUS type is good but 16-bit type is not recommended.

10. If I have a router, can I use Play@TV NMP-4000 and connect to the Internet? |

If you use Access Point that has the function of a router, you can use Play@TV NMP4000 and connect to the Internet. However, you need to configure your system as follows.
The router should be set to change DHCP server function and network address (NAT).
You should configure the LAN and WAT setting of the router properly. If the router is connected to more than one PC, the settings should be configured properly.
The TCP/IP settings of the PC LAN card should be set to "Obtain IP address automatically."
The cable between Play@TV Set-top Box and PC should be connected properly.
If the settings are configured as above, you can run the Network Setup program of Play@TV NMP4000 on your PC to configure the network settings. Using Play@TV NMP4000 while running other programs may slow down the performance of your PC, so it is recommended that you not run other applications on your PC while using Play@TV NMP4000.

11. When PC is set to use DHCP before installing Play@TV NMP4000. |

Generally, if you are installing a wireless or wired LAN card for the first time, the DHCP setting is enabled. (Refer to "Checking if your computer uses DHCP" on this FAQ) In order to use the LAN card just for Play@TV, it is better to change this setting, since you do not need any service from a DHCP server. To change this setting, in the [Internet Protocol Properties] dialogue, click "Use the following IP address" and then type "192.168.10.10" in "IP address." Type"255.255.255.0" in "Subnet mask".
* When using a router or Access point, it is good to use DHCP so do not change the settings.

12. Setting up when using a firewall. |

Generally, firewalls prevent external intrusions and internal Internet illegal access by blocking ports except for specific ones that are explicitly left open. If you are using a firewall, Play@TV may not perform well. In this case, disable your firewall or uninstall it.
For more detailed information on configuration, refer to the developer of the product.
