3. What are the differences between Wired and Wireless Network? |

Wired Network supports higher quality videos because it connects PCs to the set-top box directly with LAN cable that produces higher data-transmit rates. It is, however, rather difficult to install and move due to the LAN cable connection.
Wireless Network is cable-free so that it is easy and quick to connect to TV over a long distance. However, it may cause quality deterioration in video due to low data-transmit rates.

4. How far can PC be away from the set-top box with Wireless Network? |

The distance in the general home environment (8~10m) would not affect the communication between the PC and the set-top box. The metals in house construction, however, might cause failure in a Wireless Network. In addition, home appliances that use the same frequency as the Wireless LAN card, such as a hair dryer or a microwave oven, might cause temporal network failure. It is recommended to avoid such appliances while using Wireless Network.

5. When I played an AV file that supports AC3 5.1 Channel, I can't hear any sound. |

Check the following.
Check settings of option for Viewer.
Not all users of Play@TV NMP4000 can use 5.1-channel audio. That's why the default setting of Play@TV is set to stereo, not 5.1-channel sound. You need to set the default setting to 5.1-channel from the Video menu of Play@TV to enjoy 5.1-channel sound. Select [Option]-[Video] from Home screen of Viewer. Change [S/PDIF Output] to '5.1 Ch (AC3)'.

Check the file format of the media
Currently, Play@TV NMP4000 only supports 5.1 Ch. for DivX AVI files that includes AC3 audio. MPEG2 files with AC3 audio or AVI files with DTS audio are not supported, so please check the format of the media file. In order to check the media file format, we recommend you to use GSpot, a program to view codec information. You can download GSpot from its site. After installing GSpot, use the program to open an AVI file and check if "AC3" is included in [Audio]-[Codec]-[Name].

Check if the settings are set to input AV receiver automatically.
Check if the input of the AV receiver is set to optical and the input format is set to Dolby Digital. When playing a movie that is 2-channel rather than 5.1-channel the audio setting should be set to stereo or Dolby Prologic. Also, when playing AC3 audio, you need to set it to Dolby Digital. Most receivers automatically select optical input format but there are some that don't select it automatically, in which case you should set it manually.

7. Can I set a firewall so that Play@TV will wok on my wired LAN? |

8. When playing a media file, it doesn't play properly or is not in sync. |

If the images are not in sync with the sound there are many possible causes. A common problem is a missing or incompatible codec. If the required codec is not installed or if you have an old version of the codec installed, the video won't play or you won't hear any sound or view images on screen. Also, the screen may not display properly.
Check the version of the codec installed in your PC. Codecs are updated frequently, so we recommend that you update your codec regularly.
Play@TV NMP4000 plays media files in the same way that Windows Media Player does. Therefore, if a media file doesn't play on Windows Media Player, it won't play on Play@TV. Check if the file plays on Windows Media Player. If not, you should reinstall your codecs or configure your settings.
For more information on optimizing codecs for Play@TV NMP4000, refer to necessary codecs and files for Play@TV on the Play@TV homepage.

12. What is difference between Play@TV NMP-4000 and TV-Out products? |

TV-Out products are a substitute monitor with a TV. Play@TV NMP4000 shows digital media in your PC by transmitting the data through a wired/wireless LAN to the Play@TV Set-top box. Thus, there is no deterioration in quality regardless of the length of the cable. It is also compatible with other AV devices.
TV-Out products simply use a graphics card to play the media files while Play@TV NMP4000 uses a DVD-quality decoder in the Play@TV Set-top Box to deliver better quality and performance.

You can easily manage your multimedia data in your PC with Play@TV Media Organizer and you can control the media on your PC with a click on a remote control.
